Social Problems

This course examines the roots of pressing social issues such as poverty, racism, gender inequality, environmental injustice, and mass incarceration. Rather than viewing these problems as isolated or individual, we’ll explore how they are shaped by larger social structures, power dynamics, and historical forces.

Marriage, Families, & Relationships

This course explores how intimate relationships and family structures are shaped by culture, history, and social institutions. We’ll examine topics like dating, marriage, parenting, gender roles, sexuality, divorce, and chosen families—while also considering how race, class, and policy influence the ways people build and experience connection.

Introduction to Sociology

This course offers an engaging overview of how society shapes our lives—and how we, in turn, shape society. We’ll explore key sociological concepts such as culture, socialization, inequality, institutions, and social change.
